Inês Serra

Hi everyone, my name is Inês Serra. I'm originally from a small town in the center of Portugal, called Entroncamento, but I have been living in Lisbon for the past 8 years now. Since I was young, I was very passionate about languages and learning about new cultures. Therefore, once I was old enough, I decided I would persue this passion and got a masters degree in Translation by the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon. During this period of time I discovered Audiovisual Translation and absolutely fell in love with it. I find it incredibly challenging and creative, enabling me to be constantly learning.

Coding is my second love. I have always liked computers and was very tech-savy. I enjoyed learning by myself how to work out every little problem I came upon. However, I never really thought about of a career in tech, it was just a hobby for me. I just didn´t think I would be good enough at it and that it was something I could never do professionally. Then the pandemic started and I found She Codes. She Codes showed me that coding is actually for everybody and that you don´t have to be a tech genius to understand it. It completly blew my mind and made me once again rethink my life and my choices. I realized that I could be good at codding and that it actually makes me happy.

In the future, I would like to maybe combine both of these passions, but for now I would very much like to try my luck at codding professionally.
